STAY HEALTHY, STAY CALM: DAY 3 Morning and Evening Rituals

Routines help us be more productive and organised and give us order in our day so tasks can get done. Many people build these routines around work based tasks and perhaps family commitments but there is so much benefit to finding a morning and evening ritual based on improving your health and wellbeing.

We recommend doing 5 minutes for your MIND, 5 minutes for your BODY and 5 minutes for your HEART to start and end your day.

MIND
So things for your MIND may be meditation, reading, journaling or listening to calming music when you first wake up.

BODY
Things for your BODY may be a little workout, some stretching, release work, yoga, pilates or anything that wakes up your body ready for the day. Try out our myofascial release videos on our youtube channel or this great little routine;

  • 1 min Squats
  • 1 min push ups – kneeling is cool
  • 1 min lunges or step up and down your stairs
  • 1 min plank – kneeling please (check out our technique video)
  • 1 min cardio – skip, hop, jog on spot, jump jack,

HEART

5 min for your HEART may be spending quality time with your kids, playing a game, getting outside, writing a letter, reading or connecting with one friend or family member to tell them you appreciate them.

There was a period of time at the beginning of the year and end of last year where I had a morning and evening routine nailed. And it felt amazing. I felt focused and calm, I didn’t feel stressed getting my son to school and felt I knew what I needed to achieve for the day.

It looked a bit like this for my morning routine (which I need to get back into!)

  • No phones for 1/2 hour after wake up
  • Write in my journal things I was looking forward to for the day and 3 goals I wanted to achieve.
  • Drink a cup of hot water and lemon
  • 10 min of Myofascial release
  • Read 10 pages of a book
  • 5 min of meditation with me and Aiden

This was a way to start the day with clarity, calm and a feeling of being aligned.

The evening ritual was more simple: Read 10 pages of a book, journal what I was grateful for that day, Myofascial release before bed

See what works for you but having 15-20 min allocated to YOU is so powerful.
