Instructor Training

We pride ourselves in offering our team regular training to increase their skills and better service our clients. We also wish to become a centre for excellence in Pilates and fitness and thus look to organisations and Educators we respect and believe in to come share their knowledge with us.  We have in the last two years worked closely with Polestar Pilates UK to offer Mat Pilates training, Gateway Courses and more recently workshops. We are also going to start working with Gary Carter of Natural Bodies in the new year.

About Gary

Gary Carter has over 30 years of experience in movement physical training, anatomical study and bodywork practices. With a background in athletics, competition cycling, bodybuilding, martial arts, yoga and manual therapies, he himself has studied with many inspiring teachers. trainers and masters in their fields. This has culminated in the development of his own ‘Myofascial Movement Training’ which he uses with Athletes and runners to achieve gold medal results.

He started the Natural Bodies Centre in 1991 to teach, train and encourage kinesthetic awareness to health and movement professionals. He hosted with Tom Myers for the first ground breaking Anatomy Trains courses in the UK from 1998 through to 2003 and, after graduating with the KMI school in 2001, Gary co-taught with Tom on Anatomy Trains courses in the UK and USA.

He ran the Science of Movement course at Middlesex university from 2007- 2011 and studied in Dissection at the Institute of Anatomy in Vienna with Todd Garcia, along with Dissection studies with Gil Hedley, and runs Dissective studies for the student teachers of his Anatomy of movement courses with Julian Baker

He has also run several Yoga teacher trainings and continues to run his highly acclaimed Anatomy & Myofascial yoga and Pilates courses in England, Scotland, Ireland and Europe.

The Workshops

Monday April 23rd, 11:00am-5:00pm

Part 1: Fascial Anatomy and Movement Integration

The basis of this workshop on Fascia in Movement is to create a deeper knowledge of our structural and fluid interrelationships and balances. How we connect up in movements, to understand this through the felt sense and our relationship and balance to gravity. This will be a mix of theory and practical. Can be done on its own or as part of the 4 part series.

Tuesday April 24th, 10:00am-4:00pm

Part 2: The Feet and Up

Gary will look at the anatomy of the Foot  and lower leg to understand weight bearing, gait and balance to support up to the pelvis. Can be taken on its own or as part of the 4 part series.

Monday June 18th, 11:00am-5:00pm

Part 3: The Pelvis and up, The Spinal Organ and Core

Gary will discuss the Psoas and Piriformis and the ‘Pelvic Trampoline’ The Deep Six and Pelvic Fluidity. He will look at spinal structure and function and the anatomy of breath and good breath practices. Can be taken on its own or as part of the 4 part series.

Part 4: The balance of weight

This workshop will look at the arm lines and how we can efficiently weight bear through the upper body. Looking at the cranium and Neck, Cranio Sacral Rhythms and the Shoulder Girdle. Can be taken on its own or as part of the 4 part series.
